Christmas Party Pieces – Black Olive Tapenade

Gluten free vegan black olive tapenade and crackers
Black Olive Tapenade is a fabulous gluten free, vegan foundation for lots of dishes as well as being a moreish dip. This Black Olive Tapenade is super quick and easy to put together and if you make a large batch it lasts really well in the fridge.

Black Olive Tapenade is very good as a canape topping and really great as a simple dip with crackers.

Olives are a magical thing. They taste revolting to most people the first time they eat them. But strangely some people persevere and grow to love them and cannot get enough of them. I have read that they contain a natural type of MSG – which is what makes them so moreish. No idea if that is true but some olives do taste very, very good. Olives also have umami taste which means that putting the tapenade with your favourite savoury combinations (mushrooms and savoy cabbage pair particularly well with tapenade) adds a earthy depth of flavour you cannot get anywhere else.
