Well sort of! The smell of chutney and pickles cooking in the kitchen is a solid reminder that Christmas is coming. Chutney is so easy to make and stores so well. You really can knock this out in under an hour.
Chutney makes great presents. Tied up with some ribbon and a tag with the making date and ingredients on. The jars look beautiful.
Christmas Cranberry and Pumpkin Chutney is gorgeous. There are so many types of chutney you can make – and the availability of local and seasonal produce will influence what you make. This year I had lots of pumpkin and cranberries in the freezer so that’s what I made. Spice it up with chilli flakes for more of a kick. You have total control over the ingredients and amount of sugar – you need sugar so the chutney will store but you can control how much and how sweet the final product is.
