Sesame Noodles with Shitake Mushrooms and Pak Choi. Gluten-free | vegan | allergy friendly

I’m back in the swing of things again and our holiday in Provence is now a distant memory 🙁 However, this weekend we were back to hard landscaping… More next time. Oh, my back!

Provence really inspired me with all the amazing, seasonal produce to find a good source of local(ish) produce. I eat seasonally but access to seasonal produce from local producers is not so easy in London. At my local market every stall sells exactly the same, totally unseasonable produce: food that has been imported, probably air-freighted and aside from the huge environmental impact the produce isn’t at its best. Famous markets, such as Borough Market sell amazing produce but it is far from local and far from sustainable. I would like to grow some of my own produce next year but I don’t have a big enough garden (or allotment!) to produce enough. I aim to find a local(ish) source of seasonal produce…

This week on FriFran I have published…

My go-to summer noodle dish is Sesame Noodles with Shitake Mushrooms and Pak Choi – it is moreish, tangy, salty, full of goodness and super easy and super quick. It is also wonderful served chilled as a salad.

I adore blueberries! Blueberries are in season right now and are wonderful in muffins, cakes, or in fresh cruncy salads. I especially like how blueberries pop and burst with flavour. What better way to eat them than Blueberry Polenta Muffins! Simple, easy, delicious and if you need a treat – really, really great as a weekend breakfast. 🙂
