Five Fabulous, Seasonal, Summer Fruit Recipes

Five Fabulous, Seasonal, Summer Fruit Recipes. #GlutenFree #Vegan #GlutenFreeVegan. From #FriFran

I’m sharing with you Five FABULOUS, Seasonal, Summer Fruit Recipes. All totally gluten-free and vegan (and free of coconut and alliums too!). In-season summer fruit is incredible. Allowed to ripen naturally and grown in ideal conditions seasonal fruit is packed full of flavour and is, really importantly, better for the environment.

More sustainable than fruit flown half way around the world or forced to grow in conditions that use huge amounts of water and energy.

Five Fabulous, Seasonal, Summer Fruit Recipes – What’s So Great About Seasonal Fruit?

Seasonal fruit is incredible for so many reasons. In the UK we don’t have a great deal of what other people would call ‘exotic’ fruit. We have wonderful and amazing apples, pears plums. Really sturdy, fabulous fruits – don’t get me me. I love them but, we sometimes get a little bored with them. They are available most of the year thanks to how well they store. But what I miss, during the hard winter and spring months are the fruits that give a burst of flavour (and tang!), the berries and fruits that are only good for such a short amount of time (and really only store if you freeze them, and even then sometimes not so well!). I’m talking about blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, blackberries and all their friends and cousins.

Seasonal fruit (picked and eaten, in-season) have such an amazing taste and texture because of how and where they are grown. They don’t need to be stored or transported half way around the world so are in great condition.

You can find out exactly what’s in season in the UK at the moment by checking out my FREE Seasonal Produce Posters. There are two posters you can save and/ or print to use as quick reference guides for UK Seasonal Produce. Click the button below to sign-up and download.

These are my pick of Fabulous, Seasonal, Summer Fruit Recipes. They are not all desserts!!! Fruit makes a great salad. I’m not getting into tomatoes being fruit here. They are technically fruit be as we eat them as a vegetable, for the purposes of recipes I will consider them a vegetable.

#3. Five Fabulous, Seasonal, Summer Fruit Recipes – Grilled Summer Fruits

When fruit is perfect the way it is minimal messing is the way to go. If your fruit isn’t quite ripe grilling it will bring out the natural sweetness and soften it. Grilled Summer Fruits is the perfect way to end a meal. I also save left-overs for breakfast the next day.

#4. Five Fabulous, Seasonal, Summer Fruit Recipes – Endive Salad with Pears and Almonds

When you have lots (and lots) of wonderful pears fresh from the tree salad is a great way to go. I love the earthy flavour of pears with the subtle sweetness in the background paired with bitter endive and crunchy almonds. Endive Salad with Pears and Almonds is one of my favourite summer salads and is super flexible as a starter, side or main. I adore this salad.

The epitome of summer is Strawberry and Raspberry Eaton Mess (get the spelling tweak?!). With light, crisp ‘merignue’ and rich unctuous ‘cream’ the ripe and soft strawberries and raspberries meld together to form one of the best summer desserts in the world. I could eat this everyday…
